Every mediation begins with a private, one-on-one meeting with your mediator. It is where you say what you need to say without your spouse in the room, and where we work out how to structure the process around your family.
We meet for about an hour, usually by Zoom, and always separately. Your spouse has their own meeting, and what you say in yours is confidential.
Afterwards you receive a follow-up email with a link to book your mediation, the forms to complete, and access to a secure shared folder. The financial disclosure checklist tells you exactly what to collect.
Both mediators use the same five-step process, and every Separation Agreement is drafted by Rebecca. If you are not sure which fits your situation, take the two-minute quiz or book a free 30-minute consultation. Those are the two ways we match people to the right mediator, and both are free.
For over 20 years Rebecca has helped families navigate separation with clarity, structure, and less conflict. As a family lawyer and Law Society accredited mediator, she brings deep legal experience to complex issues including corporations, pensions, and higher-conflict dynamics, and drafts your Separation Agreement herself.
Isabella is a Harvard-trained family mediator and a member of Mediate BC's Family Roster. She offers a more accessible option for straightforward matters, using Rebecca's process to help you reach clear, fair agreements, with Rebecca drafting your Separation Agreement at the end for legal certainty.
Both of you need one. Mediation cannot begin until each of you has had a pre-mediation meeting. You can book at different times, and you do not have to book together.
