Rebecca Alleyne
Family Lawyer and Family Mediator in Victoria, BC
I’m a family lawyer and accredited family law mediator based in Victoria, BC. For nearly 20 years, I’ve helped families across British Columbia navigate separation in a way that is fair, respectful, and forward-looking.

Early in my career, I practiced as a divorce lawyer and spent many years working in courtrooms. Over time, I became increasingly aware of how high-conflict legal processes affected my clients and their children. The adversarial approach often made separation more expensive, more stressful, and more damaging to long-term family relationships. I wanted to help people move through separation efficiently while still being able to communicate, co-parent, and show up together for their children over time. That realization led me to change direction and focus my practice on family mediation.

Since then, I’ve guided more than 1,000 families in British Columbia through family mediation. My work focuses on helping people create clear, workable plans for parenting, support, and property so they can move forward with stability and confidence. Whether families are co-parenting children or separating without children, I believe the process should bring clarity and peace of mind, not additional stress.

Over the years, I’ve refined a structured mediation process and developed software called Divii to support more efficient and accessible separation planning. My approach ensures that people understand the legal framework, financial details, and key decisions they need to make, so agreements are informed, practical, and professionally drafted.

I hold a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and a law degree from the University of Victoria, and I was called to the British Columbia bar in 2006. I am a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, an accredited Family Law Mediator, and a Registered Roster Mediator Mediate BC with a designation in Family (Parenting) and Family (Property), with hundreds of hours of advanced mediation training.

Most importantly, I’ve seen how mediation can transform conflict into a respectful, forward-looking plan. My role is to guide families through this process with clarity, skill, and compassion, so they can move ahead with confidence and a stronger foundation for the future.
